The Third Annual Research Lock-In

February 18, 2011

The Grand Prairie Genealogical Societies Library Lock-In has  been a great success for the past two years.  We look forward to another exciting year.  The society has many projects but there's always time to help others with their research.

Please save the date and plan to attend.

Until the Lock-in, you can get help in the library the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the second Monday of the month from 1:00-3:30 p.m.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Projects

1)  We are currently helping to index archived files in the library.  This include, among other things, scrapbooks from Grand Prairie organizations. To help with this project, please contact the Library Liaison, John Wylie .

2)  We also have a Cemetery committee that is working on surveying the cemeteries in the Grand Prairie area for publication.  Each cemetery is being researched for historical information, walked and digitally photographed to record tombstones as well as data entry being done.  If you are interested in helping with this project you can contact our President, Regina Shumaker at gpgstx@yahoo.com.

3)  We provide beginner help in the library Genealogy Room.  People are needed for the evening and afternoon times as well as being available by appointment to help individuals with research.  Please see our Library Liaison, John Wylie for further details.

4)  If we can help or you have feedback, please let us know.  GPGS welcomes all donations for research assistance.
